Every family has their thing. Some families like to go fishing, some like to travel cross country in an RV. My family likes to eat, and more than anything, we like to eat out. It’s not that Mom’s food is bad, in fact, it’s very, very good, but our family seems to revel in the excitement of picking a new restaurant and going to see what all the fuss is about. And Durham is just the place for us, with restaurants on every street and corner. Just the other night, we decided to try Anotherthyme on North Gregson Street, and we were not disappointed. Although, admittedly, we’re there for the food, but being the bunch of artistic, opinionated people we are, my family loves noting the overall ambience of a place, the color on the walls, the lighting, the silverware. Our verdict: Anotherthyme’s a hit. It’s a snazzy restaurant run by someone who knows how to make food a true art. Our table was a flurry of forks: “Hey, that looks good, can I grab a bite?” We’re not bashful eaters, and I’m pretty sure our waiter appreciated our enthusiasm for good food. We left satisfied, body and soul, having experienced together a meal that brought out the best in us, laughing and sharing. |

With a sizable increase in foot traffic in downtown Durham, we [business owners] are seeing an increase in business and are purposing ourselves for the dynamic inner-city growth to come. The evidence of growth can be seen in all around the city. To the North, Central Park's district offers vibrant community of Arts. Take a walk along Foster Street and you'll find everything from art galleries, antique wood works to a performing theater. The Central Park District also offers two great outdoor event facilities; The Pavillion at Central Park and Historic Durham Athletic Park . As visitors and local residents rediscover downtown Durham this area is sure to become the Mecca of local and regional artist.
